A day at Smiths

Typical day at Smiths :
I wake up before anyone else. Read book looking at the day arising. Make coffee for J and wake him up. Talking/planning the day even though we know it is going to be the same as yesterday and the same tomorrow. Walk Frida on beach. Reading, hanging out time. Lunch. Read some more, maybe a nana nap. Canoeing to other side of lake (with Frida of course). Swim in ocean, enjoying wonderful views. Canoe back. Get fish or meat in local fishery or butcher. Shower and change for din-dins. Time for snack and a vino. Bbq and wonderful salad. Cheese board. Lots of lovely conversations.... Night night.
Oh I wish every day was like this hehe....

Seed

New (casual wear) shoes purchased. Ladies - there are no excuses to wear daggy old thongs anymore, the espadrille is back and it is looking good. I found these at Seed. Love them!

Morning

It i still raining. It has been over a week with constant rain now and everything is damp and Frida is grumpy because she gets shorter walks.
Australia has BIG weather. When it rains, it RAINS (basically like having a shower), when the sun is shining it is relentless - don't be in it, UV extreme and not good  for you! When it's windy it often turns into a storm.  So modesty is not on the agenda....
Anyway today we were going to  clear out the shed and I had planned to do some gardening. Not happening now and I am planning a day of reading and maybe some yoga in the arvo.... Not so bad after all :) ....
Oh and also, must plan for a dinner that takes hours to do - love having dinner on a Sunday night after the pots have been cooking all arvo....

Views from decking this morning....

Brownies

Productive day.
The day started with a trip to the gym. 5 km furious run then weights.  60 min later - home for brekkie with man.
Then we were ready to get organised:
Massive grocery shopping, medicare visit, new hose and water gun, cleaned house, made brownies.. Then James came to visit which resulted in hours of entertainment and laughs. He is planning to move to Brissie which would be good. It is nice to have old friends around!
At night we made a loooovely prawn curry (red curry paste from scratch) - tunred out to be very hot (due to loads of fresh ginger) but lovely!! The eving ended with a good skype chat to L and R in Cheshire. Now J is on the  phone to Mr Fish and I am blogging!!!
Soon book and bed... Sleep well all! x

Puddles

If you find a puddle you have to lie in it! It's messy, it's dirty and it is irresistible!

Australia Day

Good morning and Happy Australia Day!

I always wake up early. I can’t help myself. We have the day off, and decide to sleep in, yet at 5.30 I am up and wide awake. Have spoken to mapa and sis, read some blogs, put on a load of washing, paid some bills.....See you get loads done if you are up when everybody else is sleeping!

Today we were going to go to Southbank for some Aussie celebrations but we have been rained out! It is not happening and now we might even be as un-Australian as this: we are considering spending the day shopping!! J need some shirts and I want to look at some interior details..... I know, not very Aussie like, however with all the rain we have had, I doubt there will be many picnics and bbq around...   J has made an effort and bought snags and chicken for a bbq. I have contributed with mini Aussie flags. It is actually not raining right now, so we might go for a drive and if we are lucky we will find an event that has not been cancelled due to the weather...

New house

Frida has got  a new house.
Initially she was suspicious. It did not look like her old house and she would not have a bar of it. Then of course she came around and now she loves it.... ! Maybe not the best looking kennel in the world, but it is practical, cool in summer and waterproof.

Wedding

It is again a rainy day. If you have not heard we are facing some really grim weather. It is raining A LOT. Heaven is open and even the dog walker cancelled today. I guess she thinks all the dogs are hiding inside their little kennels....
Anyway i thought I'd cheer you/me up with something as unusual as a photo of ourselves. I don't usually do this, but I do like this picture. We are on holiday's it is L and M's wedding and everyone was happy! Lovely day!

Photos

My friend Pippi just sent me some wonderful pictures of herr sons. Her husband is a very good photographer and takes beautiful pictures. Anyway, my reflection is how amazing it is when 2 people you know have kids, to see what they got from each of them. Like little reflections of their parents that you know .you wonder what they are going to look like and more so, what they are going to be like as adults. I can't wait to see it!

Rain

The skies are open. It is bucketing down!
The previous post was to remind me of our wonderful holiday (no rain!) and our morning walks on the beach. I want to go back!!!!

Dragon tattoo

On the weekend we went to see the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Brilliant! J thought the swedish version was just as good, but I am biased. The swedish version of Mikael Blomkvist I think is better than Daniel Craig however Salander is better in he english version. Over all let's just put out there, this version had a bigger budget, excellent filmed, and the attention to details great. The story is disturbing and leaves you thinking about human rights. The book is calles "Men who hates women" in swedish. That really gives a better idea of the message but I guess "the girl ith he dragon tattoo" is less offensive for some....
The point is - if you have not seen - book tickets and go t he cinema!

The floods

Just finished watching a progrm on National Geographic about the freak of nature that happened last January in QLD. The footage from ppls mobile phones, their stories, the genuine   and fabulous help during the clean up. It was all too moving and I am now sitting here crying and thinking of all the families that were affected by this. How terrible!

Holiday

I have been quiet over the Christmas and NY period. I had planned to be in touch, to update you regularly on our escapades. That did not happen...
We drove to Sydney and then got extremely busy... Saw all our friends and we both loved that. We really do miss them all... Of course every time we see them is followed by the discussion ‘do we need to live in Sydney’... Oh well we will see – and no we are not moving this year! We are happy to stand still here for a while... We saw The North Shore Bunch and also the Eastern Suburbs mob. Luke and Mia’s wedding on the 28th was fabulous, walks in Vaucluse, dinners and coffees galore. Maybe in hindsight Sydney was a bit too busy... However we loved seeing all our friends so was all worth it. Then we went to Smith’s Lake and just chilled out and did sweet nothing. This really was the relaxing part of the holiday. Reading, walks, good food and wine (we popped into Hunter Valley on the way up!) and lots of talking about the year ahead. This year is going to be a great year for us!!!
Over the next week or so I promise to update you on what we did over the hols. x

Kong Wubba

The best xmas pressie for this chick was the KONG WUBBA. No I am not kidding, that is the name of the toy..
It squeeks so it drives you nuts, but she loves it. I think today she has entertianed herself for about 2-3 hours, just chewing and tossing the Kong around!
