Hmmm...

After 4 days I wonder.....if he thinks that the dirty cricket clothes magically find their way to the washing machine, gets washed, dried, folded and put back in his drawer? And the bag magically finds its way back to where it belongs?

I've been way too nice. This week: tough love...

Bedtime story

We received from a lovely gift from Lis and Richard today in the mail.

'Guess How Much I Love You' is Oliver's favourite bedtime story and the one we read for him each night. (Yes we read other books too!)

When Lis was here (Oliver' granma and J's mother) she found out we read this for him every night and she read for him too. He loved it and was mesmerised by her reading.

Then Lis found the book in the UK and it has a little recorder on it so that you can record the story. Brilliant idea to put a recorder in there by the way! She recorded the story and sent it to us.

I am so touched by this and love it....! Thank you x

Osso Bucco

After Saturday night's disaster meal (which J referred to as a dog bone) (ps. Note that he was the one cooking) - I decided to make an effort and do something nice for din-dins.

We usually always eat well and have nice dinners so I think to have a bad one really threw us haha...

Anyway, I made a very nice Osso Bucco (hours in oven) served with fresh stir fried vegetables and rice.

Do I have to say it? Ohhh yees, it was delicious!

Bay run again

After last nights ice cream extravaganza (I did not eat any of the brownies) I decided to go for a run this morning. Frida has injured her paw on glass so she is housebound. Therefore I (for the first time) was able to do the run without a dog sniffing, peeing and pulling. Noice! I did have Oliver with me so I did push the pram around though!
The 10k run took me 1h and 12 min. I reckon I saved 7 min at least from what it would have been with the dog. Anyway. It's slow and still not a very easy run to do. However I think I am getting better veeeery slowly! Oliver is so good on thee runs. He sleeps almost all the way (yes of course it's all organised so he's tired when I leave..) and only wakes up towards the end. When he wakes he is happy, I sit him up and give him a sip of water and we keep running. He's easy and very cool of course!!!

Four dollars....

... Is the amount of money my dinner cost last night.

It was not good.

Not that you can't make a good dinner for few dollars. We just did not succeed last night.....

So we drowned our sorrows in home made brownies and tip top ice cream. Haha....

Mousse...

If you don't have it, buy it and live happily ever after....
Only joking of course - however it is a really good product. I've used this product for years and I love it. Not organic and natural as I really prefer, but my oh my, it feels great after use! Try and feel cleansed....

Food processor

After long and faithful service, the food processor has sadly died. It is ok, it has worked hard for many years and to be honest, was quite tired anyway. So per se I'm not surprised or very upset it died. However, it decided to do it in the middle of me making brownies for the bbq we're going to today. This means I had to move bowls and mix by hand. (Dough with lumps, eeks!)
Brownies are just out of the oven, hope they taste better than they look!!

Chimichurri

Made a chimichurri to have with dinner. Did not follow Sasja's recipe as I could not remember his...
Not a good idea. It was good, sure, but just not fantastic...
And was not as good as Sasja's! If you're doing the recipe below, use less garlic - we stink here. Haha!

Ingredients;
1 cup firmly packed fresh flat-leaf parsley, trimmed of thick stems
3-4 garlic cloves
2 Tbsps fresh oregano leaves (can sub 2 teaspoons dried oregano)
1/2 cup olive oil
2 Tbsp red or white wine vinegar
1 teaspoon sea salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Method;
1 Finely chop the parsley, fresh oregano, and garlic (or process in a food processor several pulses). Place in a small bowl.

2 Stir in the olive oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Adjust seasonings.

Serve immediately or refrigerate. If chilled, return to room temperature before serving. Can keep for a day or two.

It is getting colder. Today was the first day thet the temperature in our room was under 20 degrees. That is the coldest it has been since Oliver was born!

Time to dig out the warmer clothes and shoes.

Doesn't he have the cutest uggs on earth? Present from Lis, they are just so gorgeous!

Even the sole is cute, with little stars. I wish I had boots like that hehe..

Brita jug

New brita jug. The old one broke (and was old and knackered anyway) so got a new, bigger one. Like it a lot.

Not that the water here is as bad as it was in QLD. There it was impossible to drink the water from the tap, here really it is ok, but I think we just got used to the brita jugs over the years in QLD and now I can't imagine not having one....

No pain no gain??

Today I did the run again (with O in pram and dog running along), same as earlier the week. Was it pleasurable? No. Not. At. All. Boring, painful, felt like legs were logs, looong.
It was pure determination and stubbornness that got me through. I kept thinking; 'keep going soon there' and 'COME ON' over and over again. It helped...
And when I got to the end the bridge over the canal was closed so that added another km to the run. This is not a lot normally but since it was hard work today it felt like a very long detour.
How do I feel now? Fabulous. Ok sore, but happy I did it. I guess possibly no pain no gain applies here. I have not been running properly since before I got pregnant. Will take some time to get fit again. I am decisive and it will happen. Bring it on I say!

Sarnie and bread

Sarnie popped in today with little Lula. I helped them with some curtains (I have a sewing machine) and we ate this beautiful bread he had made himself. I'm very impressed!! It was a very yummy pumpkin bread, I must learn how to make it.
An afternoon of chatting, walks and playing with the babies. Very nice day!

Blender

Forgot to tell you.... Got a new stick blender after Easter.

Puree-ing is now all I do!

O has not had one single bite of food from the shop. Well, all the baby food I have bought in the past has been organic so should not be too bad. However, the food you make yourself (ie boil veg and fruit), and then puree is obviously better. So that's it - I puree all the time!

Ugly

Why ? Seriously - I find this so incredibly ugly!

I guess even though I've lived here for nearly a decade , I'm still a Swede at heart. This you would never ever see on any houses there. EVER.

Not only is it incredibly ugly but also, what is the point? Lazy builders? Owners with no clue?

You would think, going through the effort of building a house, that you'd apply some architectural skills? Not on this one , just 'bam' and there is a house, ugly as a hat full of bums, but nevertheless a house.

Not pretty! And it is all over the place here - very common. Weird!
