New sofa...

I'm getting rid of all the white stuff we have... We had great sofas - but they were white... Seemed like a good idea at the time ie without kids and black dog... Now, more of a burden - if you're as pedantic as I am... So anyway - white sofas been sold and new one arrived today.... So excited about a child friendly environment and a more chilled out me.... :)

Mum and dad (also referred to as MaPa by me and sis) sent me a huge package with birthday pressies for me. Filled with thoughtful things like coins from the year I was born, new books and cosmetics, clothes for Oliver, silver I got as a baby etc. I loved it all but most precious was a letter I've written to them as a little kid. They must have dug deep to find it as I don't think I've ever seen it, and I certainly can't remember writing it. :)

Dinner party

Dinner party last night for 5 people 7 us included. Lots of cooking, but all went so well and we loved it. Oliver slept the whole time. We're lucky with him, from 7 he's always down for the night. Yey!

Great friends!

I am lucky. I have everything I could ask for. On top of that I have great friends.

Some of my friends I don't see very often but when I do it's like we've never been apart. Like Tony and Jennie. I love that. That it's not a drama that you have not seen each other for ages but 'right now' matters.

Anyway, these good friends sent me a package. A very good 'hump day' pressie! Wooohooo!

A package arrived filled with all sorts of goodies. Clothes for Oliver from Polarn o Pyret - loved them! And 2 books and mags for me - topped up with some choccy and Bilar. Yum! I am very excited and start reading immediately.

Baby shower galore

I have got to be honest. I don't like baby showers... Boring and lots talk about nappies, and too much aahh and oooh over baby clothing.

However yesterday I went to Mia's for her baby shower. I was pleasantly surprised - it was great!! I would not expect anything else from M though, she has great taste and is always classy. There were everything from champagne to high tea style, pink cupcakes and swimming small babies on top of jelly. So lovely! A lot of work went in and it was fabulous. A lot of talking and laughing, especially with B and Tiff...

Lamb shanks 2

The lamb shanks were good, lovely sauce and tender meat. It really was very easy, just follow the prompt and within 10 min the lid was on. I went upstairs to give O his bath and 30 min later 'beep' , and it was done. Seeing how little time we have in this house, I think this will really help!

It does not fill the house with that lovely smell of cooking as a 4 h dish normally does, apart from that - fabulous to get dinner reduces. 3.5 h in cooking time :)

We will definitely try more recipes. I think will be great for risotto , which drives me nuts with all the stirring. Now, only close the lid and wait for dinner. Woohoo!

Tefal Cook4me

After a rubbish day (for no particular reason, just a non-event-day) I picked up my new Tefal cooker at the post office. I have been given this one to test min of 3 recipes and then write a review. If I do I get to keep the cooker!
Not really a thing I'd usually use but with O in the house I have less time, maybe this one will help... ? I am excited to try. Woohoo!

Swimming

Today was Oliver's first swimming lesson. He was a bit unsure of it all and a bit scared to begin with. There were lots of children and babies and noisy in there. After a while though - and after a lot of singing and playing - he was more comfortable and really enjoyed catching the little toys that were thrown in the water... He is just so cute in his little swimming costume....
Unfortunately no piccies as I was on my own and it was full on there. Maybe next week...

Getting my hair cut (finally - I look like the wild woman of Borneo) and grabbing a cuppa to go. The cafe next door to the hairdressers is also, of course, filled with well manicured, fit and beautiful people.

Found this poster in the cafe. Would never find it in my family orientated neighbourhood. Haha....

Cajun spiced salmon baked in oven. Served on a rice bed with sour cream sauce (with lime zest and sweet chili) and a plain salad with walnuts and oil.
